About the procedure
Today we have available a full range of organic acid for chemical peel, and use them to treat and improve various skin conditions, where chemical peel is a complementary method.
Some of the indications for a chemical peel are acne and acne scars, rosacea treatment, solar keratosis, but of course also wrinkles and sun damage of skin, neck and chest.
Chemical peeling depends on skin type, indication and type of selected peel, and is usually carried out in several treatments at intervals of 7-14 days. A good therapeutic effect, simplicity of construction and side effects are minimized and make this treatment preferred by our customers and doctors.
Chemical peels can be performed during the entire year, with the use of sunscreen. Very superficial peels with mandelic acid can be carried out also during the summer.
With this controlled chemoexfoliation there is no skin irritation, so it does not interfere with normal life rhythm, which is the case with many other treatments - especially when it comes to the removal of hyperpigmentation and scarring.
Since the improvement of the skin is achieved gradually, refreshment of the skin is visible, but appears to be completely natural. The final result is visible couple of weeks after peeling, but steady progress is evident from day to day. Also, peeling effect is long-lasting because it stimulates renewal of collagen and elastin in the skin.

Am I a candidate?
The doctors in our Polyclinic will examine your skin and make a decision on the type of peeling which should be carried out. If you are pregnant or you are breastfeeding, suffering from immunosuppressive disease (systemic lupus, scleroderma), if there is less than 6 months that you are underwent surgery, radiation or laser treatment in the region where peeling will be implemented then you are not a candidate for this type of treatment.
If you have an active infection with herpes on the lips, the procedure should be postponed. In case you are taking isotretinoin, a procedure should be delayed till 6 months after surcease of using medicaments.
How do you prepare?
Before deciding on a procedure, the doctors in the Polyclinic Bagatin may suggest a specific skin care or other actions prior to the procedure.
During the procedure
A chemical peeling is a medical procedure during which is selected chemicals are applied on the skin (glycolic, mendelic or other organic acids), with the aim to improve the skin condition due to which this procedure was indicated.
After the peeling the epidermis is renewed and dermis architecture is enhanced because of the increased biosynthesis of collagen and hyaluronic acid, thus remodeling the skin.
These photographs show the real condition before and after the procedure. The results of each procedure are subject to individualities and normal variability of surgical results. Consequently, Bagatin Clinic cannot guarantee equal results for each individual client.
The effect of chemical peeling depends on at what depth the peeling is achieved. Therefore, the result of peeling can be improved texture and moisture of skin, younger appearance, but also the removal of minor wrinkles and improved pigmentation disorders caused by exposure to sunlight.
According to the depth of the peel, we distinguish very superficial, superficial, medium and deep chemical peels.
- VERY SURFACE PEELING affects the most superficial part of the epidermis, ie. the layer of dead skin cells that usually peels.
- SURFACE PEELING acts within the epidermis, but does not penetrate to its deeper layers.
- STRONG CENTRAL PILING going to dermoepidermalne border.
- DEEP PEELING acts within the dermis.
The effect of skin peeling decides the doctor and adepts it individually to each patient. In this way, with a combination of a number of therapeutic effect of peels, it is possible to obtain an excellent effect of rejuvenation of the skin, without irritation and without restrictions in everyday life.
Recovery time
Depending on the selected type and achieved depth of peeling, redness and slight swelling occur immediately after the procedure, which quickly calms down, and in a couple of days exfoliation of the skin occurs, which will stop in a few days. During this time a special skin care will be prescribed.

Precautions
Treatment is not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, suffering from immunosuppressive diseases (systemic lupus, scleroderma), if you underwent surgery before 6 months, radiation or laser treatment in the region where the peeling should occur, or if you have a viral infection in region that should be treated (eg. Herpes Simplex).
